After
battling their close rival Wexford last weekend, the Waxers
had a week to recover before facing geographical rival Thornhill
at home.
Markham
bounced back in to the win column, picking up their 21st of the
season, downing the Major Islanders by a 3-1 score.
After
allowing the visitors to score the first goal of the game and take a 1-0 lead
in to the second period, the Waxers powerplay
exploded in the second period, scoring three times in 10 minutes to put the
game away. Steve Ritchie was
responsible for the first two goals and Ben Cottreau
scored the third to seal the deal. Greg
van’t Hof
was solid in net for the Waxers, stopping 29 shots.
