Although the score might not indicate it, this might have been the most evenly matched game this series, at least for the first 35 minutes of hockey.  As the game wore on however, the Waxers ran out of luck and gas and in the third they had to open up offensively to try and climb back in to the game.  Instead of being able to cut in to the lead, this gave the Dukes opportunity to blow the game wide open, which they did, scoring three times down the stretch to claim their third straight victory and take a commanding 3-0 lead in the South-East Conference Final.

Wellington opened the scoring on a powerplay just 3:30 in to the game but Markham would answer right back (with a carbon copy goal) just 2:09 later, also on the powerplay.  Coming out of the Waxers end, an attempted pass was deflected by the Dukes and the puck was sent down to the Wellington end.  Ryan Steane won the foot race for the loose puck and threw a terrific goal mouth pass to Aaron Buckstein who redirected it in to the net for the first of his two goals on the evening.  Wellington would get one more before the period ended to make it 2-1 after the first.

The Dukes struck first in the second period, scoring to make it 3-1 with 8:39 left in the middle period.  Markham would make it a one goal game again with Buckstein's second of the night and the Waxers second powerplay marker four minutes later.  Mark Menonte fed the puck back to the point where Jamie Wright threw a quick wrist shot at the net and Buckstein deflected the puck as he was being knocked down in front.  This would be a close as the Waxers would get on the evening as the Dukes would score twice in a 39 second span to make it 5-2 heading in to the third period.
