The Waxers got back on the winning track with a hard fought come-from-behind 5-4 overtime victory over the North York Rangers.

The Waxers opened the scoring in the first period when Lawne Snyder scored a powerplay marker on a hard wrist shot after being fed in the high slot by Daniel Sisca. The Rangers tied the score shortly after before Ian Malcolm set up Brett Barrer on a faceoff for a 2-1 lead with 20 seconds left in the first.

The teams exchanged goals in the second as first the Rangers tied it 2-2 and then Bryan Lachapelle scored on a slapshot on another powerplay, assisted by Mike Clarke and Kevin Tompkins, to stake them to a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.

Penalties caused problems in the 3rd period and the Rangers capitalized for two powerplay markers a minute apart to jump ahead 4-3. Joel Kitchen was then sent in all alone by Chris Petracco and beat the Ranger goalie through the five-hole to knot the game at 4-4 with seven minutes remaining in regulation time.

The Waxers continued to buzz around the net until Snyder scored the winner on a howitzer to the top corner after Malcolm won the draw clean with 44 seconds remaining in overtime. The win moves the Waxers to 26-15-4-2 on the season with four games left. RH
