Markham
traveled up the 400 (in what may have been a first round playoff preview) for a
Sunday afternoon affair with the Couchiching
Terriers at the Rama MASK Arena and came just 12
seconds from earning the victory on their last bus trip of the season.
Markham
opened the scoring in the first when Jeff
Paisley bagged the first of his two on the day,
and first of two goals in 0:56 to make it 1-0 with
1:30
left on the clock. Couchiching
tied it up 34 seconds later before Paisley would
strike again sending the Waxers to the room with a
one goal lead after 20 minutes.
The
Terriers stormed out in the second period to take a 3-2 lead before Daniel
Torres ripped a slap shot through the goalie to tie the game.
Couchiching surged ahead 4-3 before
Markham
scored twice more before the end of the period to take a 5-4 lead in to the
third. Evan
Erdmann scored the Waxers 4th goal,
followed by an Andrew Dias powerplay
marker just
1:30
later for another one goal lead at the intermission.
Markham
pretty much held Couchiching in check until the end
of the game when a funny bounce resulted in the tying goal. Rob
Cundari stopped 35 shots in net for the Waxers,
most shots coming during the Terriers 12 powerplay
opportunities.
