The Waxers finished off a successful week that saw them gain six out of eight points in the past week. The wear of the recent tough schedule was evident as the Panthers stretched the Waxers to overtime before the contest was iced away with a 5-4 decision in favour of Markham.

The Waxers started quickly with three goals in the opening six minutes to storm out to a 3-0 lead. Kevin Tompkins got things started when he scored in the opening minute from Tom Kotsopoulos and Lawne Snyder. That goal made it the fifth straight game Tompkins has scored. Paul Robinson scored half a minute later from Greg Chambers and newcomer Albert Ferrante to make it 2-0. Four minutes later Alex Stoyan scored a powerplay goal from Chambers and Brent Pollock and Markham took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

Pickering would recover to tie the game with a pair in the second period and one early in the third before Jason Fraccaro scored from Robinson and Daniel Beaudoin to put Markham in front 4-3. Pickering would tie the game with less than three minutes to go to send the contest into overtime.

In the extra session the Panthers fell a man short and the Waxers took advantage of the situation. Beaudoin setup Chambers at the point who sent a puck towards the Panther cage and en route it deflected off Robinson for the game winning marker.

Chris DelRosario was called upon to give Jeremy Wenzel a break and "Del" made several good stops along the way to help the Waxers secure the win.

This was the first overtime win for the Waxers this season and made an already great week even sweeter. The Waxers now get a much needed break and next take the ice at Centennial Arena when they have a rematch against the same Panthers on Friday night.
