WORTH NOTING...

The Waxers season is over, but life goes on. It has been an interesting year and while the end results were not what anybody would have desired, it surely was an experience!

There are many fine young men that honorably represent the community and the club. To allow one negative result destroy the positive experiences from this year would be a mistake.

The Waxers are a team that wins as a team and loses as a team. It sounds like a cliche, and it is, but it has undeniable ring of truth to it.

No running from the truth will change things, the Waxers have no reason to be ashamed, it was a series that could have (some think should have) gone the other way.

The Aurora Tigers defeated the Markham Waxers 3-1 at Markham Centennial Monday night. The victory also ended the Waxers season prematurely perhaps, however, give the Tigers their due, they came to play and give them full marks for the victory in the series that featured strong team defense, excellent goaltending and generally made for some of the best hockey all year.

The Tigers took the lead in the first period and the score would remain 1-0 until the seven minute mark of the second period when David Colucci finished off a play with Daniel Sisca to tie the game at 1-1. The goal, a shorthanded effort, gave the Waxers some momentum but they would be unable to cash in and the Tigers struck twice later in the period to take a 3-1 lead after two periods.

The final period saw the Waxers press at times but were unable to score and the victory and the series would belong to the Tigers.

Tom Lawson tended the twines for the Waxers as he did all series and he turned aside 35 of 38 Tiger shots and contributed a solid effort once again. EDITOR
