WORTH NOTING...

The Waxers played a solid game from start to finish and received tremendous efforts from everyone, which is crucial for success of any kind.

Sisca played very well as Coach Herrington juggled his line combinations for this contest.

The blueline corps of Ball, Ulcar, Clarke, Tyrrell, Stoyan and Snyder played a solid game, more of the same can be expected to come.

Tompkins had the hit of the game when he flattened a Tiger skater in the neutral zone.

Malcolm, Barrer and Lachapelle were outstanding on penalty killing assignments, there were plenty of those this evening.

Lawson made the big stops when he had to and gave his team a chance to win, can't ask for anything more from a goaltender than that.

You ain't seen nothing yet" - this team is going places - big time!

The Markham Waxers defeated the Aurora Tigers 4-1 on home ice Friday night to even up their best-of-5 game playoff series at 1-1.

The contest which was preceded by a dedication to the Markham Waxers Wall of Fame, which had been previously unveiled earlier. Darrell Hicks sang "Maple Leaf Forever" as part of the dedication ceremony.

Chris Petracco scored the first goal of the game at the 12 minute mark of the second period after a scoreless opening period. Petracco took a Daniel Sisca pass and wristed it past the Tiger netminder, David Colucci also picked up an assist. Forty seconds later with the faceoff deep inside Aurora territory Ian Malcolm shot it in right off the draw for his second goal of the playoffs for what would prove to be the game winning goal.

The Tigers capitalized on a powerplay opportunity early in the third period to cut the margin in half at 2-1 but a minute later Colucci scored in a goalmouth scramble after the Tiger netminder had misplayed the puck and was caught out of position. Assists went to Petracco and Sisca on Colucci's marker. The scoring concluded with an empty net goal from Sisca in the last minute of play with an assist awarded to Colucci.

Tom Lawson earned the victory in net turning aside 35 of 36 Aurora shots.

Game three goes Sunday night in Aurora at 7:00pm. There'll be no rest for the weary as game four goes Monday night at Markham Centennial at 8:15pm. EDITOR
