In what was perhaps the most entertaining and exciting game this year, the Waxers tied one with the Collingwood Blues 4-4. The game was an end-to-end affair with terrific passing, quality scoring chances, furious hitting and superb goaltending.

The Blues jumped out to a 2-0 lead by scoring in the first 6 minutes of both the first and second periods. The Waxers answered back just over 12 minutes in to the second period when Bryan Lachapelle scored a highlight reel goal after receiving a pass from Chris Petracco. Lachapelle split the D on a 1-on-2 and then deked the goaltender to make it 2-1. Just over 3 minutes later, Jim Stamatopoulos ended a terrific shift by himself and linemates Locky Gelinas and Robert Burrows, by stuffing home a rebound into the empty net to make the score 2-2, which is how the teams started the third.

Daniel Sisca scored his team leading 8th powerplay goal (and 12th goal overall for the season) from David Colucci and Petracco when he corralled his own rebound and sent it in over the sprawling Blues netminder for a 3-2 Waxer lead. The lead was short-lived however as the Blues struck for a powerplay marker of their own and then went ahead 4-3 with 13 minutes left in regulation. Rob Bumbaco tied the score at 4-4 with 9 minutes left in the third after Ian Malcolm centred a pass to him after jumping on a rebound from a Ryan Bayliss point shot.

Try as they might, the Waxers could not get the winner as the Blues goaltender closed the door the rest of the way as did Waxer tender B.J. Forsyth who played a strong game in net stopping 40 shots. The Waxers had their second highest shot total of the season firing 55 shots at the Collingwood net.

The Waxers play next on Friday night at Centennial Arena as they host the rebuilt Thornhill Rattlers. RH
