The Markham Waxers out played and out worked the visiting Stouffville Spirit in a well deserved 8-4 victory. In their win that concludes a rocky month of November, the Waxers look to be on a roll with their second straight victory that demonstrated that a great team effort leads to lots of "W"s.

The Waxers got out of the gate early as Ian Malcolm converted just over a minute into the contest from Jim Ulcar and Rob Bumbaco. Bumbaco then lifted Markham in front 2-0 late in the period from Brett Barrer and Mike Clarke.

The second period featured a scoring explosion as the two clubs combined for eight goals. Rob Mazzuca from Daniel Sisca and David Colucci made it 3-0 after 22 minutes of play. Two consecutive Stouffville goals less than two minutes apart threatened to make it a hockey game once again but then the Waxers went to work again, scoring three consecutive goals. Bryan Lachapelle slapped in a powerplay goal from Sisca and Chris Petracco to lift the lead back to two goals at 4-2. Just 71 seconds later Locky Gelinas scored what would turn out to be the game winner from Lawne Snyder and Joel Kitchen. Less than six minutes later Malcolm scored his second of the night, unassisted, and the Waxers were up front 6-2. After Stouffville scored a powerplay goal to cut the lead to 6-3 Jim Stamatopoulos converted with just 21 seconds remaining in the period from Clarke and Kitchen.

The third period was quiet compared to the second although it started with a bang as Bumbaco scored his second of the night from Petracco and Snyder during a powerplay just 54 seconds into the final frame. A late Stouffville goal concluded the scoring.

Tom Lawson earned the victory in net in a game that saw him turn away 28 of 32 shots, including 14 of 15 third period shots. Coach Russ Herrington while he wasn't interviewed after the contest had to have been pleased with the result but more importantly the way the club earned the result. Fourteen different Waxers got on the scoring sheet and the two newcomers making their Markham debuts, Bumbaco and Colucci didn't look at all out of place in fact their addition adds speed to a squad that wasn't slow before. It was quite evident that their injection into the Waxer lineup makes Markham a force in the Central Division, easily the toughest division overall in the entire league. EDITOR
