 The Waxers came out flat in the first of a home-and-home weekend series against the rival Thornhill Rattlers and never recovered as they fell to a disappointing 6-3 defeat.

The first period was all Rattlers as they converted the majority of their scoring opportunities and leaped out to what would turn out to be an insurmountable 5-0 lead after one period.

The second period saw the Waxers cut into the lead on the powerplay. Ben Buxton from Daniel Sisca and Jim Ulcar made it 5-1, it was also Buxton's first Jr A goal. Jimmy Ball converted a feed from Sisca to cut the deficit to three before the period ended.

Waxers playing shorthanded for a good portion of this contest as the result of their inability to read the tempo of the game that would be enforced by the officials. Ultimately they have nobody to blame but themselves for placing themselves in a situation that all but killed any real chance of a rally and the likelihood of the Waxers winning too many games against hardworking opponents when they play with so little discipline is very small.

Chris Petracco would lift the Waxer spirits in the third as he single-handedly beat a Rattler defender and tapped in his own rebound to make it 5-3. A late goal by the Rattlers sealed the outcome and completed the scoring.

The Waxers need to regroup in a hurry as they face these same Rattlers on Saturday night at Thornhill to complete the weekend series.
