For the second straight night in this, the first week of October, the Markham Waxers were victorious by a 7-3 count. The Waxers improved their record to 2-0 against the Huntsville Wildcats by again blowing open a tight game with 4 goals in the third period.

The Waxers outshot Huntsville 54 to 16 with only the strong play of the Wildcats goaltender, including stopping 8 of 9 breakaways, kept this game remotely close.

The Waxers jumped on the board first when Jimmy Ball scored with only 7 seconds left in the first period. The second period saw the teams exchange two goals apiece. Brett Barrer scored the first of his hat trick followed by Locky Gelinas to make it 3-0 before Huntsville scored twice in the last four minutes to make a game of it going into the third.

The Waxers scored just 11 seconds into the third when Barrer scored his second, which turned out to be the eventual game winner. Huntsville made it 4-3 before the Waxers scored three unanswered goals to salt the game away. Bryan Lachapelle, Barrer and Daniel Sisca finished the scoring. Barrer's 3rd goal which put the Waxers up 6-3 was the third consecutive game that Markham has recorded a shorthanded goal.

Ian Malcolm led the assist parade with 4 helpers while linemate Kevin Tompkins added a pair.

Tom Lawson recorded his second straight victory facing only 16 shots on the evening.

The Waxers are now 5-3-1 and play next against the North York Rangers on Monday night.
