The Waxers made their first trip of the season to Collingwood to visit the Blues and were beaten by the Collingwood powerplay in an 8-2 loss.

The Blues took a quick 2-0 lead in the first period on powerplay goals before Bryan Lachapelle scored his first goal of the season, a shorthanded effort finishing off a breakaway as he was sprung loose off of a feed from Lawne Snyder. The Blues would score twice more before the period was over and it was 4-1 at the end of one.

The second period was the story of the game as the Blues capitalized on their powerplay opportunities, scoring four unanswered extra-strength markers and a commanding lead after 40 minutes.

Waxers' captain Dan Britt scored his first goal of the season on a point shot that eluded the Blues netminder with helpers going to Jim Stamatopoulos and Robert Burrows.

Markham didn't play as badly as the score might indicate, but the numbers don't lie, as the Blues took advantage of their opportunities.

The Waxers next game is October 1 as they take on the Stouffville Spirit.
